Pokemon – collect them all!

Two things in life are certain, one of them is death, the other is that a new Pokemon game will be phenomenally successful. There’s something about these adorable little creatures that triggers something deep within us that makes us want to collect them all and trade them with our friends.

You might think that after 14yrs, several TV shows and even a film or two that this franchise had been merchandised to death and there was no way of keeping the series fresh but you’d be wrong because the latest game Pokemon Platinum is one of the best yet.

Pokemon is about three things, battling, training and trading, and Pokemon Platinum manages to do these better than its predecessors, Diamond and Pearl.

While the game keeps its traditional elements, laying out a linear path through different parts of the Pokemon world, the gyms have been redesigned to make use of the unique capabilities of the dual screened DS with some interesting mini-puzzles.

The battles are also made more exciting as you can upload videos of your greatest victories or your most hilarious defeats to send to friends and watch again and again.

Also while Pokemon may have a “Kiddy” reputation, in reality it’s a complex strategy game and trading the other half of Pokemon adds an extra dimension to the game.

While trading is integral to Pokemon, in past games it has been a bit clunky and hard to do, but now the Global Trade Station has been rebranded as the Global Terminal and it’s been significantly improved.

Trades over Wi-Fi are now far easier and can be achieved without even meeting other players. While a really neat new feature exclusive to the Platinum game is that you get sent an email when a Pokemon you’ve listed for trade has been accepted, meaning you no longer have to check your account every five minutes to see if your Pokemon has found a new home!

If you already own Pokemon Diamond or Pearl you might ask is it worth upgrading to the Platinum Version what with there being so many other excellent DS titles to spend your hard earned money on.

Well my honest answer would be, if it was full price no, but because you can buy Pokemon Platinum cheaply by comparing prices at gonetomorrow.co.uk then I would whole heartedly recommend it to anyone even if they own other Pokemon games. So make you shop smart not hard, by making Gonetomorrow.co.uk your one stop shop for buying cheap games.
